Easter Blessings
While Christmas is celebrated (in a secular way) by many Japanese, Easter is relatively unknown. This year, we decided to put on a short Easter program as a way to invite friends and neighbors to our Easter services. God blessed us with a total of 48 who attended. A number of them were first-time visitors. We thank the Lord for the opportunity to tell the lost about our Savior and His victorious resurrection and the hope that it gives to all who believe in Him as their Savior. Pray that God will work in the hearts of those who heard this hope-filled resurrection message.
A New Class
The Japanese school year begins in April. In April, I began teaching New Testament Survey to a new class of Bible school students. The youngest is 18, while the oldest just retired from teaching High School. Pray for me as I teach and for the Freshmen students as they prepare for the ministry. Pray too that many Japanese will answer God’s call to full-time ministry.
Visitors from Home
In May, our son-in-law and our grandson visited us in Japan. It was our grandson’s graduation and mission trip combo. All of us enjoyed their visit. They participated in a lot of activities both in and around the church. They also traveled to the Noto Peninsula to help in the earthquake aid (see below). On their way to the airport, we showed them many sites in the Tokyo area. Please pray that our grandchildren will obey the Lord’s leading in their lives.
Earthquake Aid
It has been five months since a devastating earthquake struck the Noto Peninsula. To date, much of the area is still in disrepair. Our son, Jonathan, and some of his kids made two trips to help those in the area. Last month, we spent two days assisting a family in tearing down a building damaged (see photo) in the earthquake. Three members of this family are Christians and attend a church nearby. The rest of their family is still unsaved. Please pray for this family and many others in the Noto area. Pray for physical needs. Pray for the many who still do not know Christ as their Savior.
Thank you for your faithful support and prayers.
