About Us

Mike Burgett

I was born on May 22, 1955, in Springfield, Missouri, while my parents Larry and Ruth Burgett were attending Baptist Bible College. In 1959, we moved to Japan where my parents served as missionaries for 20 years. At the age of six, I trusted Christ as my Savior and was baptized with the first believers from the Sapporo Bible Baptist Church. After graduating from high school, I returned to the US to attend college. I had a desire to become an architect and build church buildings on the mission field. I attended college to study architectural engineering. Before graduating, God called me into the ministry. My desire to build church buildings had changed. Instead, God gave me a desire to start  churches in Japan. In the fall of 1976, I enrolled at Baptist University of America. While in school, God gave me a wonderful wife, Cindy. We were married on July 7, 1979. The following year, I graduated from Baptist University of America.

Cindy Burgett

I was born on April 2, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois. When I was 13, our family moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee. Shortly after moving to Tennessee, a bus captain from the Bible Baptist Church invited me and my younger sister to attend church. I was saved at a youth rally at the age of 14. The Lord made such a difference in my life. A year later Don Sisk, a missionary to Japan, spoke at our church’s Missions Conference. When I saw the slides of Japanese praying to idols of gold, I was brokenhearted about how the vast majority of them were not saved. That night, I surrendered my life to the Lord. I told God that I would go to Japan or anywhere He wanted me to go. After graduating from high school, I enrolled at Baptist University of America in the fall of 1977. That is where I met Mike. We shared the same burden for lost souls in the country of Japan. We were married on July 7, 1979.

Our Family

God blessed our home with four precious children: Bethany, Carl, Matthew, and Jonathan. We are thankful that all four of our children have trusted Christ as their Savior.

Our children went to a Japanese school for six years. They are all still very fluent in Japanese. Each of them loved living in Japan. They were instrumental in bringing their Japanese friends to Christ.  After six years of Japanese school, we continued their education through home school.

Three of them are all currently living in the United States. Our daughter, Bethany, is married to Daniel Davidson. They live in Oregon, where Daniel pastors Hillview Baptist Church. Two of our sons live in Oklahoma and attend Eastland Baptist Church. Carl is married to Daisia. Matthew is married to Ai (Japanese). They both live in Tulsa. Our third so, Jon is married to Tabitha. They are missionaries to Japan and are currently working with us.

God has blessed us with 24 grandchildren. Our prayer is that each of our children and now our grandchildren will put God first in their life. We want God to use them for His honor and glory. We appreciate you praying for us and for them too.
